Grown in Valais, not merely packed in Switzerland<\/h2>\n

Our flakes come from greenhouse basins in Saxon, fed with Alpine water and heated by solar energy. Water quality is analysed regularly together with Agroscope, the Swiss federal centre for agricultural research. We harvest from April to October and let the basins rest through the winter \u2014 we follow the season rather than a year-round industrial cycle.<\/p>\n

After filtering through fine-mesh cloth, the biomass is vacuum-pressed, extruded into filaments and dried at 40 \u00b0C. That low drying temperature preserves the integrity of the cells. The filaments are then ground into flakes and packed on site. Our spirulina is grown without pesticides, without herbicides and without any animal-derived input; it contains no additives, is not irradiated and is GMO-free. It carries the Marque Valais<\/a><\/strong> regional label.<\/p>\n

What the flakes contain<\/h2>\n

Spirulina is naturally high in protein<\/strong> (60 g per 100 g \u2014 close to 70 % of its energy content) and high in iron<\/strong> (48.8 mg per 100 g). It is also high in magnesium (232 mg) and high in vitamin B2 (3.2 mg per 100 g). Its deep blue-green colour comes from its natural pigments, chlorophyll and phycocyanin.<\/p>\n

In practical terms, a 3 g daily serving provides around 1.8 g of protein and 1.5 mg of iron; at 5 g, that rises to 3 g of protein and close to 2.5 mg of iron.<\/p>\n

        How much to take: 3 to 5 g a day<\/h2>\n

        The usual serving is 3 to 5 grams per day<\/strong>, about one teaspoon. You can double it depending on your needs, particularly if you are an athlete or follow a vegetarian diet. Spirulina is best taken in the morning, with breakfast or before physical activity. Some people take it year-round, others in two-month courses.<\/p>\n

        One rule matters: avoid high-temperature cooking, which degrades the product’s characteristics. Add the flakes at the end of preparation, never at the start of cooking.<\/p>\n

        Taste, and how to work with it<\/h2>\n

        Expect a distinctly vegetal flavour with a marine note. Flakes dissolve more slowly than powder, which makes them milder in the mouth. They pair well with fat and acidity: avocado, olive oil, lemon juice, yoghurt. The simplest approach is to sprinkle them over a salad, an avocado toast or a warm (not hot) soup. Stirred into yoghurt they turn it green; in a fruit juice, smoothie or bircher, the taste all but disappears. If spirulina is new to you, start with half a teaspoon and build up.<\/p>\n
